We are always recruiting Orthopaedic Nurse Practitioners / Plaster Technicians / Orthopaedic Technicians / Orthopaedic Practitioners to work within the field of Trauma & Orthopaedic Outpatients, Accident & Emergency Departments and Operating Theatres for work within the UK's NHS and Private hospitals.

We accept candidates who can work on-going, part time and full / part time permanent NHS staff who wish to work their off duty or annual leave.

You should be competent to remove and apply casts to patients at the doctor's request, following an accident, for elective Orthopaedic conditions and / or following surgery.

You will be expected to be able to work with a variety of casting materials. As well as Plaster of Paris, you will be expected to use a wide range of resin coated materials, fibreglass, polypropylene and polyester substrates.

Primarily we recruit qualified technicians / nurses who hold the British Casting Certificate (BCC). This certificate is recognised by the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) ; the Society of Orthopaedic and Trauma Nursing (SOTN) of the Royal College of Nursing; Orthopaedic & Trauma Alliance UK; and the Association of Orthopaedic Practitioners - UK (AOPUK).

Orthopedic Plaster Technician – Bath

The Community Fracture Clinic is a new service being run on behalf of the NHS Bath and North East Somerset by Assura Minerva, which is a partnership between family doctors in the Bath and NE Somerset area and the leading healthcare provider, Assura. Patients in the Bath and North East Somerset area who have simple fractures now have the option to have their follow-up appointments at one of two new Community Fracture Clinics.
  
A new position has arisen for an Orthopedic Plaster Technician to join the team.
  
Brief Job Description:
The role involves:
  
•Application of plaster casts to arms, hands, legs and feet following simple fractures for patients aged 3 and over
•Removal of plaster casts from hands, legs, arms and feet for patients aged 3 and over
      
Key Responsibilities:
  
•Providing a high quality service and liaising with healthcare professionals.
•Responsible for setting up the plaster room at the beginning of clinic and tidying plaster room at end of clinic.
•Responsible for stock taking of consumables.
•Required to complete relevant patient paper work and keep legible records for patient history.
            
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications Required:
  
Essential:
•Previous NHS or private health services experience
•Ability to work in a fast paced environment
•Strong communication and customer service skills
•Team player
•Ability to work to protocols and follow process
•Ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
•Flexibility
•Uses initiative
    
Desirable:
      
•British Casting Certificate (BCC) or working towards it
  
Hours and location:
        
6 hours per week, 3 hours every Tuesday and Friday afternoon 2pm to 5pm at the
Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases – Bath
